Peter Cygal's lifelong passion for Art Deco furniture developed early on and led him into the carpentry and finishing trade. He paid his dues to learning the craft hands-on. Peter soon specialized in restoration work and gained unvaluable experience restoring original vintage pieces from across Europe. In the early 1980's Cygal Art Deco was born. Peter founded his namesake company, inspired by his love for the 1920's and 1930's furniture of renowned Art Deco designers like Jules Leleu, Jean Dunand and Jacques-Émile Ruhlmann. At last, his dedication and achievements led to designing his own line of furniture. His distinct creations exude the glamour and charm of the French Art Deco era.
Cygal Art Deco's workshop, which begun over 40 years ago in a modest 1500 square feet, has since grown into a spacious 60,000. Today the German company is lead in second generation by Peter Cygal's son, Marcus, who passionately carries on his father's legacy. Cygal Art Deco fine furnishings are renowned internationally, serving designers, architects and private collectors in their residential, commercial, hospitality and yacht projects worldwide. We attribute the company's success to its unwavering commitment to superior client service, consistent quality and exclusivity. Qualities that have been integral to its business since inception.
It all started in 2014 in a beautiful boutique showroom on La Cienega in the heart of the West Hollywood Design District. After just one year, we outgrew the space, and moved to the larger, prominent location in the iconic Pacific Design Center. The PDC showroom was our home for the next five years. In 2020, however, amidst pandemic restrictions, we opted not to renew our lease. The decision to leave the traditional storefront concept behind was made to focus on what matters most: Our clients. Today, we proudly serve our clientele from our private Los Angeles showroom and office, providing a dedicated space for design and collaboration.
